Igorot Warrior
...
How could our headhunter ancestors with primitive weapons defend Igorotland despite being outnumbered and are living in a landlocked area? Spain was a superpower when Magellan landed in Mactan. USA wasn't even a country yet.
Our ancestors didn't need to finish doctoral degrees like Jose Rizal to fight back usurpers and colonizers. Innately they are endowed with wisdom to fight for what's right.
Despite being Branded as savages, evil and killers, they fought hard to protect their descendants from becoming slaves.
It was they who taught us the value of freedom, of doing what's right for the entire community, of being selfless in defending our people and freedom.
A quality most Igorot warriors of this generation carries with them, a desire to do good and serve the common good than be swallowed by the corrupt practices sa kapatagan na minana pa yata sa mga colonizers.
General Bantag is a testament to this trait. Even if he stands alone in defying the drug lords and criminals, but it's the only right thing to do. He won't be able to do his job once he let the criminals pay him. Kung magpapagamit ka sa kanila, sabi nga niya, mahirap dalhin un sa konsensya ng isang Igorot warrior.
It takes lot of evilness to take part in that game of gamitan, bayaran, siraan. Not our Igorot warriors.
