On August 26 and 27 year 1883, one of the strongest volcanic eruption in the history of the world occurred. The volcano's name is Krakatoa, which is located between the islands of Java and Sumatra in Indonesia.

It exploded so loud that almost two parts of the island were completely destroyed. More than thirty six thousand people died, mostly due to a massive tsunami that hit nearby areas.
The sound of the explosion is also very loud. Heard it up to thousands of miles away. The shockwave or strong waves of wind from the explosion even circled around the world several times.
Due to the extreme intensity of the explosion, a lot of ash, rocks, and smoke ascended into the sky. It is estimated that more than twenty one to twenty five cubic kilometers of material was dumped by the volcano into the atmosphere. There are still ashes that went on ships that are too far from the volcano.
More surprisingly, the global climate is also affected. Due to the thickness of ash and sulfur gas in the air, the sunlight hitting Earth has decreased. Because of this, the temperature of the earth has cooled down to almost zero point five degree Celsius in almost five years.
Because of the cooling of the ocean, the sea level of the world slightly decreased. It still took years for this to return to normal.
After the explosion, the sky in different countries also looks strange. Many people saw a bright red sunset, a yellow sky, and a strange glow around the sun and moon. It lasted almost three years.
Eventually, life slowly returned to the Krakatoa area. At first, scientists thought there was no life left there because the thick ash covered the entire island.
But a few months later, they found a little spider. By the time of six years, there are lizards and various insects. Decades later, the big trees have finally grown.
In the year nineteen twenty-eight, a new small island emerged from the sea near the former Krakatoa. It was called Son Krakatoa, which means “Son of Krakatoa. ”
Until now, this volcano is still active.
Due to this strange phenomenon, Krakatoa has become an important place for scientists. Here they are learning how nature recovers after a massive disaster.
