Weather bureau PAGASA raises El Niño alert.
PAGASA says recent climate conditions and model forecasts indicate that El Niño may emerge this June to August and may persist until the first quarter of 2024.
The agency says the El Niño phenomenon increases the likelihood of below-normal rainfall conditions, which could have negative impacts such as dry spells and droughts in some parts of the country.
